“Every year UN-Habitat and partners organize a month of activities, events and discussions around urban sustainability in October. This year, the theme for Urban October is Municipal Solid Waste Management. Under this theme Istanbul Youth Council organized its first clean up activity to create awareness campaign on the solid waste management systems of the cities in Turkey. The first event was a clean-up activity at seaside of Istanbul with the volunteer members of the council. They also prepared banners about solid waste management to attract others’ attention.”
